Lewisburg, Pa. – Sophomore attackman Emily Knapp tied a career high with five goals and added an assist, but the UMBC women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-10 decision against the Bucknell Bison on Friday afternoon.

Junior Emma O'Callaghan scored off an assist from sophomore Annika Wray at 13:26 of the opening quarter to knot the game at 1-1. It was the final time the game would be deadlocked, as the hosts scored twice to make it 3-1 with 12:30 remaining in the frame.

Knapp, who has already produced 55 goals in just 18 career contests, recorded her first tally of the afternoon to bring the visitors within 3-2 with 11:42 left as senior Lizzie Bateman was credited with an assist. However, Bucknell rattled off four straight goals to extend the lead to 7-2 with 2:02 left.

Sophomore Tess Curtis (two assists) found the back of the net off a setup from Knapp to cut the deficit to 7-3, but Megan Krestinski answered with thirty-six ticks left to spot the Bison an 8-3 edge after the opening quarter.

Bucknell scored the first four goals of the second quarter to widen their lead to 12-3 with 2:03 left before intermission. Sophoomore Reese Macintosh was able to put in a free position goal just before the break to bring the Dawgs within 12-4.

The Bison put the game away in the third quarter as they outscored UMBC by a 6-2 margin to grab an 18-6 advantage.  Knapp scored both Retriever goals in the period.

UMBC (1-1) dominated the fourth quarter as they blanked the Bison by a 4-0 count.  Knapp added two more goals to her ledger, and Bateman and sophomore Mya Stewart-Parsons also found the back of the net.
