Danilovitz Leads Men's Cross Country to 2025 Cantello Invitational Title at Navy

Sophomore Sensation Wins Second Straight Race

Annapolis, Md. – The UMBC men's cross country team claimed its second consecutive championship of the season at the 2025 Cantello Invitational, hosted by the Naval Academy.

The Retrievers placed four runners in the top eight, finishing with a total of 29 points and an average time of 25:31.5 at the USNA Cross Country Course. They narrowly defeated the host, Navy, which scored 33 points, as well as Loyola (Md.) with 83 points, Catholic with 103 points, Southern Virginia with 163 points, and Mount St. Mary's also with 163 points.

Sophomore standout Daniel Danilovitz secured his second consecutive individual title, completing the 4.9-mile course in 24:52.5.

Classmates Kieran Mischke (6th place, 25:33.6), Joseph Ensor (7th place, 25:35.1), and Justin Banks (8th place, 25:45.3) closely followed Danilovitz, contributing to a strong team performance.

Senior Thomas Foulkes finished just outside the top ten, placing 11th with a time of 25:50.7. Additionally, junior Sofiane Compaorg (19th place, 26:28.3) and sophomore Jackson Steinbrenner (20th place, 26:30.1) also put in commendable performances.
