Women's Lacrosse Looks to Clinch America East Playoff Berth at UAlbany

  • Junior attackman Lauryn Warfield scored a career-high 5 goals as the Retrievers cruised to a 22-8 victory against the Akron Zips last Friday afternoon at UMBC Stadium.  
  • Emily Knapp and Grace Bruce added 4 goals. Bruce contributed two assists, setting a new career high.
  • Junior attackman Libby Staples scored two goals and a career-high five assists.
  • UMBC outshot the Zips 41-25, and 35-19 on shots on goal.
  • UMBC has been enjoying its first 10-win season since 2017.    
  • The Retrievers lead the America East in three major offensive categories: 22.85 points, 15.92 goals (9th in NCAA), and 35.62 shots per game. Their defense also allows just 9.46 goals per game (15th in NCAA), good for second in the conference.   
  • Nelson is second in the league in goals per game (3.85, 13th in NCAA) and is fourth in points per game (4.00). She also ranks 14th with 0.92 caused turnovers per game and is 6th in the NCAA with 6.54 shots on goal per game.   
  • Knapp is third in the conference in points per game (4.38, 39th in NCAA) and sixth in goals per game (3.23).   
  • Bruce is now 5th in the league with 3.17 goals per game.  She reached 100 points as a Retriever and needs just three goals to hit 100 for her career.
  • Lizzie Bateman is first in the conference with 2.08 assists per game.  
  • Libby Staples is 4th in the AE with 2.27 ground balls per game.   
  • Warfield is 3rd in draw controls per game (5.15)   
  • Fontana's 10.06 goals against average is the best in the AE. 
  • The Retrievers are tied for 6th in the country with a .846 winning percentage.   

ABOUT THE GREAT DANES

  • Sophomore Mikaela Mooney leads in assists (24) and points (44).
  • Dylana Williams leads the squad in goals (33), shots on goal (51), and second in points (41).
  • Junior Delilah Mile paces the team in caused turnovers (17).
  • Junior goalkeeper Grace Cincebox has registered 49 saves and a save percentage of .290.

INSIDE THE SERIES: 

  • UAlbany leads the series 19-7.
  • Prior to the 2024 UMBC win, UAlbany had won 13 straight against the Retrievers, dating back to 2013.
  • Last season, UMBC narrowly defeated the Great Danes 12-11 at UMBC Stadium.
