Women's Lacrosse Travels to Binghamton on Saturday Afternoon

DAWG BITES 

  • Senior attacker Grace Bruce tied her career-high by scoring six goals as the Retrievers defeated the New Hampshire Wildcats 20-11 in an America East Conference matchup on Friday March 21. Five Retrievers recorded hat tricks, the most for UMBC since joining the conference in 2004. 

  • Leading from start to finish, the Retrievers improved their overall record to 9-1 and achieved a conference record of 2-0 for the first time since 2013. 

  • Bruce, who scored six goals against UNH last season, has now totaled 34 goals for the season, with 11 of those coming in her last two games. She also added a career-high eight draw controls. 

  • Freshman sensation Emily Knapp contributed four goals and an assist, maintaining her position as the conference leader  

  • UMBC is seeking their first 10-win season since 2017.  

  • The Retrievers lead the America East in all four major offensive categories with 23.0 points, 16.1 goals, 6.9 assists and 35.7 shots per game. UMBC posts a league-best 26.3 shots on goal and 2.5 woman-up goals per game. The Retrievers' defense also allows just 8.8 goals per game to take the top spot in the conference. 

  • Nelson leads the league in goals per game (3.90, 9th in NCAA) and is third in points per game (4.00). She also ranks 8th with 1.22 caused turnovers per game and is second in the NCAA with 7.00 shots on goal per game. 

  • Knapp tops the conference in points per game (4.60, 25th in NCAA) and is third in goals per game (3.40). 

  • Bruce is now 3rd in the league with 3.40 goals per game. 

  • Staples is fourth in the AE with 2.25 ground balls per game. 

  • Warfield is second in draw controls per game (5.50) 

  • Fontana's 9.35 goals against average paces the America East and she ranks 15th in the country. 

  • The Retrievers are 3rd in the country with a .900 winning percentage. 


ABOUT THE BEARCATS 

  • Binghamton dropped a 17-6 decision to Bryant last weekend and have dropped two straight contests. 

  • Emma Blloshmi registered her ninth hat trick in 10 games with three goals against Bryant. She went 2-2 from the eight-meter line to rank second nationally with 2.00 free position goals per game. Blloshmi has scored in Binghamton's last 12 games. She leads the squad with 38 goals on the season and ranks second in the America East behind Katana Nelson

  • Olivia Muscolino notched her third consecutive hat trick after she found the back of the next three times vs. the Bulldogs. Muscolino continues to add to her program-best 192 career points and 138 career goals.  

  • Mia Forte chipped in a career-high two assists this afternoon, both on goals from Muscolino. 


SERIES HISTORY 

  • UMBC leads the all-time series over Binghamton, 16-6. The Bearcats earned victories in the last four matchups against the Retrievers, including a 13-8 win in the 2024 America East Championship Semifinal, May 3, en route to Binghamton's maiden conference title.
