Albany, N.Y. -- After already having clinched a share of the regular season title and the number one overall seed, a shorthanded UMBC Volleyball team fell at UAlbany in three sets on Friday night (25-15, 25-23, 25-19) to close the regular season.
The Retrievers will host fourth-seeded Binghamton on Friday at 4 p.m. in the America East Tournament, with the winner advancing to Saturday's 4 p.m. championship against the winner of the No.2 Bryant-No. 3 UAlbany contest.
Jalynn Brown and
Hannah Dobbs each had 10 kills in the contest, while
Ema Djordjevic added a career-high six kills.
Serin Maden earned her fifth double-double of the season with 16 digs assists and 10 digs.
Izzy Ostvig played most positions on the court and filled the stat sheet with 15 assists, eight digs, a team-best five blocks and two kills.
Hannah Howard tallied 14 digs and six assists, while
Claudia Llamas added five kills.
Junior
Helen Frankovich had four kills with no errors on .333 hitting and four blocks, and classmate
Ella McAllister tallied four digs in two sets off the bench.
Dobbs pitched in defensively with seven digs and two blocks, while Djordjevic added UMBC's only two aces.
