The Retriever Men were predicted to finish second in the America East preseason poll, while the Women were voted fourth. UMBC also named
Nick Bracall, Alicia Buteau, Megan Gangaway, Anders Logas, Sean Neils, Ula Parrill as their team captains for the 2025-26 year.
Numerous personal-records were set as the Dawgs took part in its annual intrasquad Black & Gold/Alumni Meet on September 20. The teams featured a mix of program alums and current Dawgs. The Gold team took home the victory by a score of 604-560.

Last year, the two teams met in Baltimore to open the season as the Men raced to a 208.50-91.50 victory, while the Women cruised to a 178-120 win.
