Women's Lacrosse Uses Big Third Quarter to Defeat Host Vermont

Burlington, Vt. -- Kolby Weedon scored a game-high four goals as the UMBC Women's Lacrosse team stayed atop the America East with an 11-7 win over host Vermont on Saturday.

It's the Retrievers first ever four game America East winning-streak.

Isabella Fontana made 12 saves, including six pivotal stops in the second quarter, to pick up the victory.

How it Happened:
  • After Vermont took a 1-0 lead, Lizzie Bateman and Grace Bruce tallied markers to put UMBC up 2-1
  • The Catamounts tied it up, but Weedon scored with just under two minutes to go to send the Dawgs Into the second up 3-2
  • Katana Nelson scored twice in the second to match the hosts and keep UMBC up 5-4 at the half
  • The Retrievers outscored Vermont 5-0 in the third behind a pair of goals from Weedon and goals from Bruce, Libby Staples and Lauryn Warfield
  • Weedon added her fourth and final goal that made it 11-4 early in the fourth, before UVM scored three in the closing minutes
Ella Killian had three ground balls, two caused turnovers and four draw controls in the win
