Program Highlights from the 2022-23 UMBC Retrievers
	- The volleyball program won its third consecutive America East Championship, sweeping UNH at Binghamton's West Gym. First-year Head Coach Casey Krider mentored his charges to a 7-3 league record and the program is 28-6 in league play over the past three campaigns.

	- Despite strong challenges from Binghamton and new league member Bryant, the men's swimming and diving program captured its second straight league title and their 14th in 16 America East campaigns.

	- Retriever softball became UMBC's first women's program to win four consecutive conference championships. They captured UMBC's lone regular season title in 2022-23 and won the championship at home on The Diamond, running their winning streak in America East Championship play to 13 in a row.

	- The women's basketball program hosted their first-ever America East quarterfinal playoff game and advanced to the semi-finals for the first time since 2015. The ten league wins (10-6) recorded is the most since the 2016-17 campaign.

	- The baseball program won 30 contests for the first time since 2015 and their 16 America East victories were the most ever produced since joining the league in 2004. The Retrievers finished second in the conference to eventual champion Maine.

The Commissioner's Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic program in America East as determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success both during the regular season and championship competition across all conference-sponsored sports.
The scoring system for the Stuart P. Haskell, Jr. Commissioner's Cup is as follows: In sports where regular-season round robin competition is conducted, the first-place institution in the final standings receives four points times the total number of teams involved in conference play. The second-place institution receives four less points; third place receives eight less points, and so on. The America East (tournament) champion receives two points times the total number of teams participating in the championship. The second-place institution receives two less points; third place receives four less points and so on down to the last-place institution which receives two points.
In sports where regular-season round robin competition is not conducted (cross country, track & field, swimming & diving), the first-place institution at the America East championship receives two points times the total number of teams participating in the championship. The second-place institution receives two less points; third place gets four less points and so on down to the last place team which receives two points.
