Red-Hot Women's Lacrosse Travels to Binghamton for America East Opener on Saturday Afternoon

Both squads have won three straight contests.

LAST TIME OUT: UMBC WINS THIRD STRAIGHT AFTER TAKING DOWN LA SALLE

- The Retrievers won their third consecutive contest as the Retrievers cruised to an 18-8 victory at extremely windy UMBC Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
 - Graduate student Lauren Cremen scored a game-high four goals while senior Claire Bockstie added three goals and handed out a pair of assists. The Retrievers also received a pair of tallies from senior Megan Halczuk, junior Dymin Gerow, sophomore Kolby Weedon, and senior Jenna McDermott.
 - Halczuk finished with 12 draw controls, just two off her UMBC single-game record. In addition, she became the first player in program history to reach the 300-mark in the category and now has 304 draws for her career.
 - Bockstie, the current America East Offensive Player of the Week, moved into eighth on UMBC's all-time points list with 184 as she surpassed Jackie Abendschoen '88. She also moved into fourth place with 142 goals, moving ahead of Ali Levendusky '08 and Kelly Fiorani '06.
 - UMBC's defense forced 15 turnovers and held the Explorers to just three goals in the second half. Junior Isabella Fontana made eight saves to pick up her sixth victory in goal.
 - The Retrievers outshot the visitors by a 42-23 margin.
- Bockstie (26 goals, 15 assists) and Cremen (22 goals, 5 assists) have combined for 48 goals and 20 assists on the season. Bockstie has been honored by the conference five times during her career, including twice this season. She is second in the league with 3.25 goals per game and third in points per game (5.13).
 
RETRIEVERS AMONG THE NATIONAL LEADERS
- Bockstie is 12th in points per game (5.13), 20th in goals per game (3.25), 32nd in assists per game (1.88), and 17th in shots on goal per game (5.5).
- Kennedy Evans is seventh with 2.57 caused turnovers per game.
- Halczuk ranks eighth with 9.0 draw controls per game
- Fontana ranks 14th in save percentage (.497) and is 27th in goals against (9.58). She is also 53rd with 2.38 ground balls per game.
 
A GLANCE AT THE BEARCATS
- Binghamton is fresh off one of their biggest wins in program history as they won at Cornell, 13-12, a team they had never defeated in nine tries.
-The Bearcats have won three straight game for the first time since the 2012 season.
- Abigail Carroll had a game-high five goals, bringing her season total to a team-high 23. Marisa Tancredi and Hayley Weltner each recorded hat tricks.
- Caroll (7 assists) and Kenna Newman (11 goals, 19 assists) each lead the team with 30 points
- Olivia Muscolino is second on the squad with 16 goals.
- Emily Manning is 5-4 in goal and owns a 11.32 goals against average along with a .442 save mark.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
- UMBC has dominated the all-time series as the Retrievers are 16-3 against the Bearcats.
-Last season, however, Binghamton defeated UMBC, 20-14, at UMBC Stadium. The Retrievers trailed just 16-13 after three quarters but the visitors outscored the hosts by a 4-1 margin in the fourth to put the game away. Bockstie scored five goals and Gerow and Weedon each produced three markers for the Dawgs. Tancredi scored five goals and Muscolino and Newman each added four tallies for the Bearcats.
- In their last meeting in Vestal in 2021, UMBC came up with a 16-10 triumph as Gerow and Bockstie both found the back of the next four times.
