Box Score STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The fourth-seeded UMBC women's lacrosse team's season came to a close on Thursday afternoon as they fell to the top-seeded Stony Brook Seawolves, 17-5, in the America East women's lacrosse semifinals.
STRAIGHT FACTS
The Seawolves scored the first goal of the game before Grayson Corbett (Ellicott City, Md./Wilde Lake) tied it up at the 24:03 mark.
Stony Brook scored ten straight goals to take an 11-1 lead into halftime.
Out of the break, Payton Van Kirk (Ocean City, Md./Stephen Decatur) netted her first of the day off a pass from Lauren McDonald to make the score 11-2.
After the Seawolves scored another goal, Corbett and Olivia Docal (Glenwood, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) scored back-to-back goals to cut Stony Brook's lead to 12-4.
Stony Brook would net another four goals before Corbett scored her third of the day off an assist from Lily Kennedy (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) at the 6:01 mark to cut the Seawolves' lead to 16-5.
The Seawolves added another goal for the 17-5 final.
At the end of the tournament, Corbett and Jenna Baverman (Baltimore, Md./Roland Park Country School) were named to the America East All-Tournament Team.

The Seawolves move to 14-4 on the year. The Retrievers' season ends at 6-12.
