Kamtsiklis Leads UMBC on Day One of Florida Relays

Day One Results

Gainesville, Fla.—UMBC track and field kicked off the 2019 outdoor campaign at the Florida Relays on Thursday with three Retrievers in action. Manos Kamtsiklis led the way with a fourth place finish in the hammer throw.

The Greece native finished fourth in the event with a toss of 59.93m, a throw that qualifies him for the IC4A Championships later this spring. The throw was the second best all-time in school history and would have been an NCAA Prelim qualifying throw the past two seasons. Teammate Andrew Haberman finished the event in 14th place with a throw of 53.17m, fifth best in school history also qualifying for IC4A's.

Matt Kingeter was the only other Retriever in action on Thursday, placing 37th in the 5,000m run with a time of 15:12.82.

Day two of the Florida Relays will commence tomorrow at noon in Gainesville.
