Nwanaga Advances to NCAA Finals; Knake and Cody Set School Records, Advance to Quarterfinals

Tampa, Fla. – UMBC freshman Kelechi Nwanaga qualified for the NCAA Finals in Eugene, Oregon on Thursday with her throw of 51.18m in the javelin to take sixth place in the event.

Along with Nwanaga, sophomore Kaya Knake and junior Jamal Cody set UMBC records in their respective events on Thursday, as well as qualifying for the quarterfinals for Friday's competition.  Knake finished the 800m in 2:04.96, while Cody crossed the line in the 400m hurdles in 51.46. 

Also competing was sophomore Alexios Prodanas in the hammer throw, who took 22nd with a top throw of 63.78m.

Knake is scheduled to run her quarterfinal at 2:15 p.m., while Cody is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
