Track and Field Completes Day One of ECAC/IC4A Championships

Princeton, N.J. – The UMBC track and field team finished the first day of the ECAC/IC4A Championships on Saturday, earning three top three finishes in field events.

For the men, sophomore Alexios Prodanas took third in the hammer throw with a distance of 64.19m, while senior Tony White also took third in the javelin throw with a throw of 63.29m.  Freshman Kelechi Nwanaga led the women, earning a second-place finish in the javelin throw with a throw of 50.82m. 

Also competing for the men, junior Matt Kingeter finished in 19th in the 10,000m, crossing the line in 31:47.56, while freshman Taylor Baranoski took 23rd in the 1,500m run with a time of 3:55.50.  Sophomore Miles Smith finished the 800m in 1:53.42, which was good for 24th in the event.

In the 3,000m steeplechase, senior Rhys Burgett and junior Nathan Nadal took 24th and 25th with times of 9:22.68 and 9:25.21, respectively. 

For the women, Erin Patrice, Amani Wallace, Collese Daley, and Kara Patrice took fifth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 46.34.

The Retrievers finish competition in Princeton on Sunday afternoon.
