BALTIMORE - The UMBC swimming and diving teams return to the pool on Thursday afternoon to take on the Towson Tigers in a 4 p.m. meet. Most recently, the Retrievers split a weekend meet against the William & Mary Tribe on Saturday. The women defeated the Tribe, 158-139, while the men while the men fell narrowly with a score of 150.5-143.5.

SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS
UMBC split a weekend meet against William & Mary last Saturday. The women defeated the Tribe, 158-139, while the men fell narrowly with a score of 150.5-143.5; heading into the final event of the day, the Retrievers led the Tribe, 139.5-137.5.
Hania Moro (New Cairo, Egypt) led the women with three first place finishes on Saturday, as she swept the three events she swam in (200, 500, 1000 free). Overall, the women earned 27 top-five finishes
Alexander Gliese (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) and Ilia Rattsev (Moscow, Russia) finished the day with two first place finishes each on the men's side. Gliese swept the back discipline, touching in first in the 100 and 200 back, while earning a third place finish in the 500 free. Rattsev finished first in the 200 free and 200 IM, and touched in second in the 100 free. Overall, the men earned 24 top-five finishes on the day.
On the boards, the Retrievers swept the day on the men's and women's side. Elijah Wright (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) took first in both the 1 meter and 3 meter dives. Devin Gromen (Crofton, Md./Arundel) earned a first place finish in the 1 meter dive, while Abby Biddulph (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) finished first in the 3 meter dive.
Moro, Gromen, and Wright all earned America East honors this week for their performances against William and Mary last week.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers recently competed in a quad meet on Friday, with the women defeating William & Mary (177-123) and Johns Hopkins (245-55), and falling to host Navy (192.5-107.5). The men fell to both Navy (197.5-102.5) and William & Mary (148-140), but picked up a victory against Johns Hopkins (222.5-64.5).
Madison Mangum finished first in the 100 fly, while also leading the 200 free relay team to a second place finish and the 200 medley relay team to a third place finish.
On the men's side, Jack Saunderson won a pair of events in the Tigers' win against the Blue Jays, touching in first in the 200 free (1:40.58) and the 100 fly (47.25). He also finished third in the 100 IM in a time of 51.52.
