Jamison Leads Women's Lacrosse to Fourth Straight Win with 16-7 Victory over Mount St. Mary's

BALTIMORE – Junior attacker Carolyn Jamison (Westminster, Md./Westminster) tied her career-high with five goals while leading the UMBC women's lacrosse team to a 16-7 victory over Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday afternoon. The Retrievers move to 4-1 on the season while the Mountaineers fall to 0-2.

Jamison led the team with six points (five goals, one assist), while senior Sam Nolan (Fallston, Md./Fallston) followed behind with four points off four goals. Senior Jennie Milligan (Crofton, Md./South River) led the team in assists, dishing out two helpers in the win. Jamison also controlled five draws in the game while sophomore Kayla Renehan (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) caused two turnovers.

Senior Ashley Peacock (Crofton, Md./Elizabeth Seton/Louisville) also tied her career high with 11 saves while leading the team with five ground balls.

UMBC and The Mount began the first half off by trading goals for a 3-3 score before the Retrievers scored five straight in 2:13 to take an 8-3 lead over the Mountaineers. After Carly Miller added a goal for The Mount, Nolan ended the half with two goals to give UMBC a 10-4 lead heading into the intermission.

Nolan kicked off the second half with a free position goal before the Mountaineers scored again to make the score 11-5 early in the period. A three-goal run by the Retrievers extended the lead to 14-5 before The Mount's Emily Davis and Taylor Carhart and UMBC's Caitlin Miller (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) interlaced goals before the final horn.

Overall, UMBC outshot Mount St. Mary's, 36-27, while holding a 16-9 advantage in draw controls. The Retrievers also converted three of their four free position shots, compared to the Mountaineers' two-of-eight.

UP NEXT: The Retrievers will travel to Philadelphia when they face Temple on Saturday, March 4. The opening draw from Howarth Field is set for 1 p.m.
