Day Two Results
Williamsburg, Va.—Several Retrievers earned top finishes on day two of the Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary. The Retriever men were led by Vincent Rentzsch, who won the javelin, while Sophia Cologer won the 3,000m steeplechase on Friday.
Rentzsch won the event with a toss of 67.71m (222'2") after winning the event at the Raleigh Relays last weekend. Other top field performers include Musangu Bukasa, who earned ninth in the high jump with a jump of 1.79m. Ishaq Rana took home 11th in the shot put with a toss of 15.53m.
On the track, James Oakley III took ninth in the 200m dash, finishing in a time of 21.67. Freshman Jamal Cody finished 21st in the 110m hurdles, crossing the tape in a time of 15.18. He then followed that up with a 16th place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.88, just behind teammate Darrius Oxley who was 13th in a time of 54.43.
On the women's side, a pair of Retrievers earned top ten finishes, with Sophia Cologer taking home gold in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:38.59, a full two seconds ahead of second place. Essence Fredericks took second in the 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:01.97, just behind the winners from St. Joe's in 1:01.32.
In the field, Emma Gerhold earned bronze in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.25m in the finals. Abigale Slonski earned fourth in the javelin, with a toss of 37.22m.
The Retrievers close out the relays on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
