Staten Island, N.Y.—UMBC track and field took to the Fastrack National Invite as the final tune-up before the America East Championships on Friday. Several Retrievers earned top ten finishes at the meet. 

For the women, Mercedes Tillman kicked things off with a tie for ninth in the 60m dash, finishing in 7.76 seconds. Yinka Alabi took gold in the 200m dash, crossing the tape in 25.53. Freshman Erin Patrice earned a fifth place finish in the event with a time of 25.79.

Sophia Cologer led the distance runners, placing tenth in the 3,000m run with a time of 10:18.01.

In the field, Jean Udo continued her strong indoor run, placing seventh in the triple jump, with a leap of 11.64m. The Edokobi sisters, Nneoma and Ozi took sixth and seventh in the shot put with throws of 13.86m for Ozi and 12.99m for Nnemoa. Both Nneoma and Ozi earned ECAC qualifying marks in the weighted throw with tosses of 17.26m and 16.43m respectively. 

For the men, James Oakley took home seventh in the 200m dash, clocking in at 22.43. Darrius Oxley earned a sixth place finish in the 400m dahs with a time of 49.95. Nick Johnson then turned in a time of 1:54.11 in the 800m run, taking sixth in the event.

In distance events, Jon Luckin earned a ninth place finish in the 3,000m run. Luckin crossed the tape in a time of 8:33.01. Sophomore Urgy Eado earned the best finish by a Retriever with his fourth place finish in the mile, clocking in at 4:16.38. 

In the field, Thomas Johnson led the way with a fifth place finish in the triple jump, with his best jump coming at 14.11m. Isahq Rana placed tenth in the shot put, tossing his best toss of 15.08m.

The Retrievers will head to the America East Championships next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19-20 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
