Retrievers Kick Off ECAC/IC4A Competition on Friday

Friday Results

Princeton, N.J.—A handful of UMBC track and field athletes competed on day one of the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Princeton, N.J. on Friday. The meet will continue through Saturday from Princeton University.

Hassan Omar was the lone Retriever male in competition on Friday, as he participated in the 5,000m run. Hassan finished in second place, setting a person best time of 14:13.94, just three seconds behind the winner from UMass Lowell.

On the women's side, a trio of Retrievers competed in the 10,000m run. Katelyn Callaghan placed 12th with a time of 36:32.81. Kirsten McGovern and Harmony Roche were the other two UMBC runners in the race, finishing 17th and 24th with times of 37:35.51 and 38:02.66 respectively.

Finally, Sophia Cologer took part in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing 20th with a time of 10:59.74.

The Retrievers will take part in day two of the championships on Saturday, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
