Jackson and Omar Pace UMBC at Penn State Relays

FULL RESULTS

State College, Pa.—Several Retrievers earn first place finishes, as the UMBC track and field squads have a strong showing at the Penn State Relays.

On the women's side, Mercedes Jackson earned the top spot in the 60m dash. Jackson crossed the tape in 7.54. She would follow up her performance with a second place finish in the 200m dash (24.69).

Paulette Fogle took home gold in the 500m dash, finishing in a time of 1:16.08. Julie Gessler earned a top three finish on the distance end. Gessler placed second in the 3000m run with a time of 10:20.94.

Alisha Beeman paced the Retrievers in the field events with a fifth place finish in the high jump. Beeman had her best jump at 1.67m (5-5.75).

The men were led by Hassan Omar, who won the mile run. Omar won the event in a time of 4:14.95. Fellow Retriever Eric Schuler placed fourth in the event, with a time of 4:21.39.

Yao Adantor earned a third place finish in the shot put, tossing a 16.58.

UMBC is back in action next weekend, January 17, at the Terrapin Invitational. The meet in College Park begins at 10 a.m.
