Women's Lacrosse Travels to Mount St. Mary's Saturday

BALTIMORE – UMBC women's lacrosse jumps back into action on Saturday, March 15 when it travels to take on Mount St. Mary's at 3 p.m. at Waldron Family Stadium. Live video is available for Saturday's contest courtesy of NECFrontRow.com.

UMBC (2-4) has dropped two straight, including a 9-8 heartbreaker to Drexel last Saturday. Senior midfielder Kristen Bilney (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) tallied her second hat trick of the season and was one of three Retrievers to register three points in the game. Junior Alyssa Semones (Westminster, Md./Westminster/Penn State) tabbed a pair of goals and added one assist, while junior attacker Abby Wilson (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) dished out three helpers in the contest.

Wilson has tallied a point in five of the six games for the Retrievers to lead the squad with 11 points. Semones and Bilney have seven goals apiece. Semones ranks first on the team in ground balls (14), draw controls (12) and caused turnovers (10). Goalkeepers Anna Barnett (Midland, Texas/Midland) and Kelly Gielner (Pasadena, Md./St. Mary's) have each seen action in net thus far for the Retrievers. Barnett leads with 34 saves on the season.

Mount St. Mary's (1-5) has dropped three straight, including an 18-8 loss at George Washington on Wednesday. Seniors Bridget McGann and Lindsay Diaz tabbed two goals apiece in the defeat. Diaz leads the squad with 10 goals and 14 points. Freshman midfielder Kelly Maloney has chipped in 10 points on seven goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Steph Rurkowski has seen all the action in net for the Mount, she has 70 saves on the year. 

The Retrievers lead the all-time series, 12-1, including last season's 18-4 victory at the UMBC Stadium. The Retrievers had seven different players score in last year's contest, with Bilney leading the way with a career-high five goals.
