Drean, Gray To Compete in ITA Atlantic Regional Championship Match

Charlottesville, Va. – The UMBC doubles tandem of senior Daniel Gray (Bowie, Md./The Bullis School) and junior Alex Drean (Bayonne, France) won their fourth consecutive match and advanced to the finals of the 2014 ITA Atlantic Regionals. 

Gray and Drean, the No. 7 seeds, took out the eighth-seeded duo of Monteiro/Corbett of Virginia Tech, 6-3, 7-5 on Monday.

They will now face the fifth-seeded duo of Shane/Corintelli from the host University of Virginia squad on Tuesday. The Cavaliers prevailed, 10-8, in a third-set tie-breaker over fourth-seeded Penn State on Monday.

The title match will begin not before 1:00 p.m. from the Snyder Tennis Center and will be streamed at http://bit.ly/ZMvw8L.

The winners of the singles and double flights earn automatic bids to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York, Nov. 6-9.
