Penn, LaSalle, UMBC Tri-Dual Results
PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Competing in
their second straight tri-dual meet, the UMBC swimming and diving
teams defeated LaSalle, but fell to Penn, Saturday afternoon Sheerr
Pool.
The men now stand at 6-3 on the year, while the women are
5-4.
Mid-year transfer Mohamed
Hussein (Cairo, Egypt/Victory College) shined once again
for the Retrievers, picking up three individual wins for the second
straight meet. The junior won three different stroke
events, winning the 100-yard back (51.32), 100-yard free (46.19)
and the 200-yard IM (1:53.95).
Junior Pierre De
Waal (Pretria, South Africa/Tuks Sport) picked up his
team-leading tenth win of the year, claiming top honors in the 500
free (4:41.94).
Freshman Lauri
Kaei (Harjumaa, Estonia/Tallinn Secondary Science)
continues to impress during his rookie campaign, picking up the
victory in the 200 free (51.32).
For the women, Jennifer Kotonias (Burtonsville, Md./Academy of
Holy Cross) continued her dominance in the 200 fly (2:05.03),
winning the event, in addition to claiming victory in the 200 IM
(2:10.11).
The Retriever swim teams now have the week off from competition,
while the diving teams compete at Drexel next weekend.
