Track and Field Competes in America East Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday in Boston

BALTIMORE-- The UMBC men's and women's track and field travel to Boston this weekend to compete in the 2010 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships. The meet begins Friday at 10 a.m. at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

The women were picked to finish eighth, but three school records have already fallen this year. Sophomore Kiki Malomo-Paris (Northern Ireland/Glenlola Collegiate School) set a new long jump mark, freshman Laura Walker(Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) set a new pole vault height and the women's 4x200-meter relay was also broken. Senior Sara Parkinson (Chorley, England/Loughborough University) will compete in three events as she ranks third in the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs and fourth in the 1-mile run. Freshman Amanda Deller (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) ranks first in the shot put by over three feet going into the conference meet.

The men were picked to finish fourth and are led by seniors Adrian Arthur (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and 2009 America East Indoor Track and Field Scholar Athlete Dominic Devaud (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley). Arthur is ranked first in the 55-meter dash going into the meet, while Devaud is the defending champion in the heptathlon. Sophomore Joshua Hewitson (New Market, Md./Linganore) ranks second in the 500-meter dash.
