Parkinson Wins 3,000-Meter Run as Retrievers Compete at New York Armory Saturday Night

NEW YORK-- The UMBC men's and women's track and field tams won three individual events at the NYRR College Saturday Night at the Armory in New York Saturday night.

Senior Sara Parkinson (Chorley, England/Loughborough University) won the women's 3,000-meter run in an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:55.14, while fellow senior Victor Gilreath (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech/Maryland) won the men's triple jump in an IC4A-qualifying leap of 14.79m.

Senior Michael Christmas (Invercargill, New Zealand/James Hargest College) and junior Chris Snyder (McConnellsburg, Pa./McConnellsburg) qualified for the IC4A Championships in March after going 1-2 in the 1-mile run in times of 4:13.72 and 4:13.74, respectively.

Sophomore Aaron Brooks (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dematha) earned silver in the shot put with a throw of 14.93m, while freshman Amanda Deller (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) finished third in the women's shot put with an ECAC-qualifying and season-best toss of 14.07m.

The Retrievers return to action Jan. 30 when they compete in the George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, Va.
