Foreman Breaks 60-meter Dash School Record on Day One of the New Balance Collegiate Invitational

NEW YORK, N.Y.-- Junior Britney Foreman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) broke the school record in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.65 and three athletes recorded Retriever season-best performances as the UMBC men's and women's indoor track and field competed in the first day of the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York, N.Y. on Friday.

Senior Toni Boyd (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) hit a career-best mark of 13.31m in the shot put, finishing in 16th place. Junior Brandon Ellerby (Chesterfield, Va./Lloyd C. Bird/Morgan State) ran a UMBC season-best time of 51.35 in the 400-meter dash.

Freshman Imani Colbert (Upper Marlboro, Md./C.H. Flowers) continued her impressive first year with an ECAC qualifying-time of 8.65 in the 60-meter hurdles.

In the 60-meter dash, both juniors Adrian Arthur (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Antonio Thomas (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) finished in IC4A qualifying-times of 6.92.

The action continues tomorrow with the Retrievers competing in numerous events including the 5,000-meter run, 1-mile run, 200-meter dash, the men's triple jump and the men's pole vault.
