Women's Basketball Drops Fourth Straight, 79-45, to No. 21 West Virginia

The UMBC women's basketball team (4-6) dropped its fourth straight game, falling at 21st-ranked West Virginia (11-1) by a score of 79-45 Tuesday evening at WVU Coliseum.

Sophomore guard Katie Brooks (Maryville, Tenn./Heritage) led the Retrievers with 11 points, while senior guard Carlee Cassidy (Syracus, N.Y./Westhill) posted 10. Junior forward Meghan Colabella (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) added eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Mountaineers scored the first 17 points of the game before Cassidy hit a pair of free throws to put UMBC on the board at the 12:11 mark, and West Virginia led, 42-16, at the half.

The Retrievers went without a 3-point field goal for the first time in 140 games.

Forward Korinne Campbell led four Mountaineers in double figures with 20 points, while guard Liz Repella tallied 18. Guard Sarah Miles stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, six rebounds, eight assists, two blocks and four steals.

The Retrievers return to action on Monday, Dec. 28, when they take on East Carolina on the first day of the Fordham Holiday Classic in the Bronx, N.Y.
