Foreman, Colbert Break School Records as UMBC Indoor Track and Field Competes at Gulden Relays

LEWISBURG, Pa.-- Junior Britney Foreman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and freshman Imani Colbert (Upper Marlboro, Md./C.H. Flowers) broke school records and the UMBC men's and women's indoor track and field teams qualified in four events for the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships at the Gulden Relays Saturday in Lewisburg, Pa.

Foreman won the 60-meter dash in 7.70, while Colbert ran an 8.81 in the 60-meter hurdles. Both were ECAC qualifying times. Sophomore transfer Victor Gilreath (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech/Maryland) hit an IC4A qualifying mark of 14.77m in the men's triple jump, while the 4x800-meter relay team of seniors Anthony Kelhower (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Josh Okoniewski (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) and sophomores Chris Snyder (McConnellsburg, Pa./McConnellsburg) and Michael Christmas (Invercargill, New Zealand/James Hargest College) placed first with an IC4A qualifying time of 7:52.02.

Freshman Joshua Hewitson (New Market, Md./Linganore) finished first in the 500-meter dash in 1:05.38, while junior Keith Brown (Columbia, Md./McDonough) won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.23. Senior Jude Rene (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton North/Monmouth) placed first in the long jump with a mark of 6.68m.

On the women's side, the only other Retriever winner other than Foreman was senior Alex Hyland (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South/St. Francis (Pa.)), who won the 3,000-meter run in 10:37.03.

The Retrievers return to action next Saturday at the Maryland Indoor Invitational in Landover, Md.
