MOORE SCORES EARLY; WSOCCER HOLDS ON FOR 1-0 WIN AT MONMOUTH

West Long Branch, NJ--Freshman Missy Moore headed in a cross from Staci Grider just 5:56 into the game and the Retrievers hung on for a crucial 1-0 win at NEC rival Monmouth in rain and windy conditions. The Retrievers improved to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the NEC, as they took both games on the New Jersey road swing. MU fell to 4-2-1, 1-1. Moore scored goals in both UMBC wins this weekend. MU outshot UMBC, 13-8, but Retriever netminder Becky Hicock recorded nine saves to preserve her first solo shutout of the season.
