UMBC track and field senior Ariella Garcia (Staten Island, N.Y.) has been named the UMBC Female Athlete of the Week. Earlier this week, she was honored as the America East Female Track Performer of the Week after setting a new school record in the 600m at the Penn State Tune Up on Friday. 

Garcia finished the event in a time of 1:33.74, taking fifth in the event. The mark was also the third fastest in the event in the America East this season.
