Genelle Stephens is the UMBC Athlete of the Week after she captured her first individual indoor gold medal at the America East Championships by sprinting to the 400 meter title with a time of 54.79.  In addition, she placed fifth overall in the 200 meters (24.54).

UMBC's 4x400 relay team ended the day in style as they sprinted to gold for the second consecutive year with a time of 3:47.39. Junior Leanne McDonald ran the first leg and was followed by Stephens, sophomore Shannel Sibblies, and sophomore Dalyce Schmidt.
