Ibra Khairat is the UMBC Athlete of the Week after he was named the America East's Field Performer of the Week after his record-setting 2023-24 debut.

Khairat broke a 14-year old UMBC record and won the triple jump competition at the season-opening Navy Invitational on Dec. 2. Already leading the competition,
Khairat leaped 15.54 meters in his final attempt to easily outdistance the field. He broke the mark of Victor Gilreath, who recorded a distance of 15.49m in 2009.

No competitor in America East posted a mark of 15 meters or more in the 2022-23 season.
