Former UMBC volleyball captain Robbin Lee has re-joined the program as an assistant coach, head coach Ian Blanchard announced on Monday.
"Excited isn't even a strong enough word to describe how I'm feeling about Robbin joining our staff," said Blanchard "It is fantastic and awesome to add an alum to our staff. Robbin was an extraordinary student-athlete, and is a mature, and very, very intelligent young woman. She understands the culture of UMBC and is well thought-out, meticulously well-organized and will complement our program exceptionally well."
A walk-on to the team, Lee arrived at UMBC on a Presidential Scholarship, appeared in matches in all four years she was on campus and was captain of the 2013 team that finished one of the most successful campaigns in recent memory with a 19-11 record and a conference title game appearance.
Off the court, she made the Dean's List every semester on campus, the President's List four times and was a four-time member of the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll. She graduated in December 2013 with bachelor's degrees in art history and museum studies as well as media and communication studies.
From 2011-2013, Lee was the head coach of the UMBC men's club volleyball program, and also has head coaching experience at the Maryland Juniors Volleyball Club (2010-2015) and Firebird Volleyball Club (2015-Present).
