Brian Way

Brian Way joins the Retriever coaching staff as an assistant coach for the fall of 2015. He comes to UMBC after most recently being the head coach and recruiting director for the Temecula Volleyball Club in Temecula, Calif.

Way has been working with USA Volleyball in multiple roles, including working with the United States Women’s National Team and both Indoor and Beach High Performance programs. His other experience working at the club level includes the Connecticut Volleyball Academy, where he was owner, director and head coach.

Way has worked at the NCAA level with Division III Mitchell (Conn.) College. At Mitchell, Way served as associate head coach, where he helped lead the team to their first NECC (New England Collegiate Conference) Tournament appearance in four years in 2012. His job responsibilities included; planning and running practices, match prep and in-match management, while also tracking and analyzing stats.

He has also had Division I experience at the club level, serving as head coach for the Stanford University women’s club team from 2007-08. While with the Cardinal, he helped establish and build the team to a nationally-ranked program, reaching No. 20.
