Biography

2014: Scored in every meet for the Retrievers as a senior... Posted a time of 18:42 at the season opening Mount 5K Duals, placing 16th at the meet... Ran her best time of the year of 22:39 at the Paul Short Invitational, after posting a time of 23:33 at the Salty Dog Invitational... Ran a time of 19:16 at the America East Championships, placing 37th in the race... Named to the America East Commissioners' Honor Roll. 

2013: Scored twice while competing in five meets for the Retrievers as a junior… Placed 44th overall at Binghamton with a 5k time of 19:45.42 as UMBC earned its best-ever finish at the America East championship meet, fifth… Dropped just over 14 seconds from her time (19:59.60) on the same course at the Pre-Conference Meet on Sept. 7… Also scored for UMBC at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh, completing the 6k Goodman Course with a 6k time of 23:17.

2012: Scored for the Retrievers in six of their seven meets, leading the team across the line at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals... Ran a season-best 6k time of 23:18.65 at the regional meet at Penn State... Placed 45th overall at the America East Championships at New Hampshire... Her 5k time of 18:41.28 ranks tenth all-time in UMBC history.

2011: Competed in five of six meets for the Retrievers as a freshman... Scored in four meets for UMBC, including the America East Championships where she ran a seaon-best 5k time of 19:36.98 to finish in 64th... Top finish came at the season-opening Mount St. Mary's Dual where she finished in 20th... Recognized on the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Background: Was first team All-IAAM B conference from 2007-2009... Selected to first team All-Baltimore City for Cross Country in 2008 and for Track in 2009... Named to first team All-IAAM A conference in 2010... Helped lead her track team to three consecutive undefeated seasons in conference and winning the championship in 2007... Was also a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and named a Theresian scholar.

Personal: Daughter of Bobby and Peggy Gessler...Has three younger sisters Katie, Amy, and Becky... Majoring in biology... Born July 14, 1993.
