Biography

2015: Ran in just two races during her final season... Opened the year at the Mount 5k Duals, finishing in 23:27... Took to the Gettysburg Invitational, finishing the 6k race in 25:20. 

2014: Raced in three meets during her junior season... Started the season with a time of 20:51 at the Mount 5K Duals... Ran a 26:11 at the Salty Dog Invitational before ending her season at the America East Championships, where she ran a 21:42... Named to the America East Commissioners' Honor Roll. 

2013: Competed once during the season, at the Salty Dog Invitational at Navy… Completed the 6k U.S.N.A. Golf Club course with a time of 26:00.67… Named to the America East Honor Roll.

2012: Raced in four meets for UMBC as a freshman... Trimmed her career-best 6k time down to 26:54.20 at West Windsor Field at the Princeton Invitational... Named to the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Background: Named the team MVP in each of her four season at Carver and was named the Female Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2012... Finished fourth at the state meet in the 400m and 800m in 2012... Ran a personal-record 2:21.00 while finishing fourth at the Maryland State Championships as a junior... A member of the National Honor Society at Carver and listed on the school's honor rol each year.

Personal: Full name is Essence Kere Fredericks... Daughter of Walter Fredericks and Kere Boyd... Has one younger brother, Cedrick, Jr... Plans to major in financial economics... Born Jan. 12, 1994.
