Biography

2013: Competed twice during his sophomore season for the Retrievers… Placed 31st overall at the season-opening America East Pre-Conference Meet at Binghamton with an 8k time of 26:43.0… UMBC won the team title at the event… Also ran at the Princeton Invitational, completing the 8k West Windsor Field course in New Jersey with a time of 25:32… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

2012: Scored once while competing in five of the Retrievers’ seven meets in his first campaign with the Black and Gold… Earned his first career scoring slot at the five-mile Towson Invitational at Oregon Ridge Park… Ran his best 8K time at the Princeton Invitational, crossing the line in 25:56.35… Named to the America East Honor Roll.

Background: Selected to the All-County Cross Country team as a sophomore, junior and senior... Named to the All-Conference First Team after his junior and senior seasons after receiving second team honors as a sophomore... Helped lead the Falcons to the County Championship three years in a row, starting during his sophomore season in 2009.  Top finish was second at the Carroll County Championships as a sophomore... Also received all-county honors in track and field... An honor student all four years at Winters Mill.

Personal: Son of Jeff and Jamie Hopkins... Has one brother, Chase, and two sisters, Kathryn and Makenzie... Majoring in information systems... Born Mar. 31, 1994.
