Biography

Accolades: (2017-18) Earned America East Fall Academic Honor Roll accolades (2016-17) Inducted into National College Athlete Honor Society (Chi Alpha Sigma)... (2014-15) Named to the America East Commissioners' Fall Academic Honor Roll.

 

2017: Competed in four of six meets on the season, including the America East Championships.

 

2016: Saw action in the first three meets of the campaign… Scored at Navy, as he was the fifth UMBC runner to break the tape in Annapolis… Posted his best 8k time three weeks later at Paul Short, trimming 21 seconds off his previous time and finishing at 26:32.0.

 

2015: Ran in just three races for the Retrievers... Scored for UMBC at the Mount 5K Duals, finishing in time of 16:36... Ran a week later at the Wolfie Invitational, where he crossed the tape at 28:09... He took part in the America East Championships, finishing the 8k course in a time of 27:55, a season and career best. 

 

2014: Competed in one race in 2014... At the Mount 5K Duals, he finished in 24th with a time of 16:20. 

 

Background: Was the co-captain for cross country and track his senior year… Won the Group 1 Sectional Championship in the 3200m his junior season… Is a four time All-Conference selection… A member of the three time New Jersey State Group 1 Cross Country Champions... Son of Cindy and Chris Kessler… Has two brothers, Nick and Andrew.
