Biography

2017: Competed in the first two meets of the campaign… UMBC’s top finisher in the JV portion of the Navy Invitational.

 

2016: Competed in six races for the Retrievers during his rookie campaign... Debuted with a 5K time of 16:40, placing 42nd at the Mount Saint Mary's Duals meet... Ran 18:44 in the 5.1K to place 19th at the Navy Invitational junior varsity event... Clocked a personal best of 27:17 in the 8K at the Princeton Invitational.

 

Background: Competed for Our Lady of Good Counsel for four years... WCAC champion in track  for the 1600 and 800... Captain and MVP of track team... Fourth place finish in the state cross country championships in 2014 and 2015... Personal bests include 1:55 (800), 4:17 (1600), 9:34 (3200), and 15:57 (5000)... Selected for the AllRunWashington team in the fall of 2015… Member of the National Honor Society... Majoring in mechanical engineering... Eagle Scout... Has an older sister, Katherine... Son of Karen and Brian McGivern.
