2018 Indoor: Competed in the 3,000m and 5,000m runs during the indoor season… Had his best time in the 5,000m at the NYC Gotham Cup with a time of 15:36.55… Followed that up with a season best in the 3,000m at the Penn State Tune-Up with a time of 9:04.19.
2018 Outdoor: Ran mostly in the 3,000m and 10,000m runs during his junior season… Had his best run in the 10,000m at the Sam Howell Invite with a time of 32:24.24 and in the 3,000m at the Bucknell Team Challenge in a time of 9:12.90.
2016-17 Indoor: Competed in 3000m and 5000m… Set a career best in the 5000m with a time of 15:14.5 at the America East Championships.
2017 Outdoor: Ran in the 5000m and 10,000m… Set a career best in the 10,000m with a 31:50.0 at the 2017 Colonial Relays… Earned a 15:32.6 in the 5000m at the Bison Outdoor Classic to set a season best.
2016 Outdoor: Competed in just the 10,000m during the outdoor season, with his best finish coming at the Colonial Relays with a time of 33:12.45.
2015-16 Indoor: Ran in a pair of distnace events for the Retrievers during the indoor season... Had a season best in the mile at the Penn State Relays with a time of 4:41.73... Competed in the 5,000m at the Great Dane Classic, turning in a season best time of 15:52.61.
Background: Had his best meet of his career at the Gator Invitational, held by Reservoir High School during his senior season… Helped the distance medley relay team to second place finish, running as the anchor leg… Helped lead Wilde Lake to first place at the Howard County meet, and Maryland 3A Regionals… Team finished second at Maryland 3A State meet during his junior year.
Personal: Son of Jeff and Yvonne Smart… Has one brother, David… Plans on majoring in mechanical engineering… Lists favorite food as BBQ pizza and favorite pro team as the Baltimore Ravens.
