Franck Emmou were both honored by the America East Conference on Monday afternoon after posting impressive performances last week. Brown was named the Co-Player of the Week while Emmou took home Rookie of the Week accolades.
Brown, who has now won #AEHoops Player of the Week honors twice this season, averaged a robust 30.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 60 percent from the floor (24-of-30) in two games last week. The Great Barrington, Mass. native scored a career-high 31 points and tied his career-best with 13 boards at Bryant on Thursday and followed that up with 29 points and 12 caroms in the victory at UAlbany on Saturday evening. Brown is currently third on the circuit with 18.3 points per game and is sixth with 7.1 rebounds per game. He's been even better in conference play, netting 21.8 ppg. and a league-best 9.8 rebounds per night. The Vermont Academy graduate is just 63 points shy of breaking UMBC's all-time single-season sophomore record of 482 points, set by Jairus Lyles in 2015-16. He's also eighth in the country with 170 total field goals and 44
th with 420 points.
Emmou takes home his first #AEHoops Rookie of the Week award after averaging 17.0 points on 10-of-15 shooting last week. Emmou exploded for a career-high 24 points in 27 minutes off the bench against UAlbany. The Mansfield, Texas product went 6-of-7 from the floor, drilled both of his 3's and went 10-for-12 from the foul line against the Great Danes. The Mansfield Summit graduate added 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting against Bryant. Emmou is averaging 8.3 points per game while shooting 60 percent (18-of-30) in seven conference appearances. He's also a sizzling 69 percent (9-for-13) from long-distance and has knocked down 13-of-16 (81 percent) free throw attempts.
UMBC will host UMass Lowell (Thursday)l and Vermont (Saturday) this week.
