Women's and Men's Soccer Programs Earn 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 23, 2021) — The UMBC women's and men's soccer programs both earned United Soccer Coaches' Team Academic Award winners to recognize exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2020-21 academic year.

A total of 648 soccer teams (240 men, 408 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 academic year. UMBC was one of 114 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

For a team to be considered for the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA or junior college roster forms for the fall season.

For Vanessa Mann's women's program, it was their third consecutive honor and they have earned the distinction seven times since 2011.

Pete Caringi, Jr.'s squad just earned back-to-back accolades and garnered their fifth honor since 2012.
