Women's Lacrosse Heads to Pennsylvania to Face Lehigh on Saturday, Game Time Now 3 p.m.

BALTIMORE - The UMBC women's lacrosse team will start its streak of playing three teams from Pennsylvania as they head to Lehigh on Saturday, March 2 for a battle against the Mountain Hawks. The opening draw is now set for 3 p.m.

DAWG BITES

The Retrievers dropped their second game of the season on February 27 in an 18-1 loss to the #2 Maryland Terrapins.

Maryland opened the game on a four-goal run before Payton Van Kirk fed a pass to Brittany Levine to cut the Terps' lead to 4-1 with 14:21 remaining in the first half.

The Terrapins rattled off five more goals to take a 9-1 advantage into halftime.

Kelsey Weishaar, Lily Kennedy, and Zoë Pekins each were able to get shots off for the Retrievers before halftime, but all were saved by Maryland.

In the second half, the Terps scored nine more goals before the final buzzer.

UMBC's only shot in the second period came at the 4:07 mark when Catherine Sims sent the ball wide of the net.

In goal, Carly Tolino made 12 saves, marking the fourth-straight game with 10+ saves. The senior currently ranks seventh in the country in saves per game (12.75), ninth in total saves (51), and 14th in save percentage (.543),

GET TO KNOW: LEHIGH MOUNTAIN HAWKS

Lehigh has started the season at 1-2, with its only victory coming against St. Francis (Pa.) on February 23. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Red Flash, 19-4.

Against St. Francis, Lehigh used a seven-goal run in the middle of the first half to take a 12-2 lead at halftime. Sondra Dickey led the day for the Mountain Hawks with six points (4g, 2a).

The Mountain Hawks opened the season with a 15-5 loss to Liberty on February 9, before losing by the same score to #10 Penn State a week later.

Dickey, who was received preseason All-Patriot League honors, leads the Mountain Hawks with 11 points (8g, 3a), followed by Hannah Cermack (4g, 6a). In goal, Samantha Sagi has started all three games for Lehigh, making 35 stops and allowing 12.19 goals.

THE SERIES

This will be just the third time that the two teams meet and the first since the 1988 season, where Lehigh won by a score of 18-6. Lehigh currently holds a 2-0 advantage in the series over UMBC.

RECORD WATCH

With her six goals already this season, Lauren McDonald has cracked the top-ten in career goals with 119. The graduate student needs five more to take over ninth place (Jen Dragoni, 123).
