Eado Wins 1,500m at Princeton; UMBC Concludes Morgan State Legacy Meet and Princeton Invitational on Saturday

Baltimore – Urgy Eado led the pack for the Retrievers on Saturday, taking gold in the 1,500m at Princeton. UMBC had a slew of top ten finishes on the day as they gear up toward the America East Championships.

Eado crossed the finish line in a time of 3:57.39 to finish in first place. Matthew Kane finished the race in tenth, clocking in at 4:00.96. Erick Soetje finished in the top five in the 400m with a fifth place finish in a time of 48.51.

Miles Smith and Marcus Foster also finished in the top ten in their respective races, the 800m and 400m hurdles. Smith finished in eighth in 1:54.48 while Foster finished in ninth in 54.71.

The 4x400m relay team of Jamal Cody, Foster, James Oakley III and Soetje took sixth in a time of 3:20.34.

In the field, Jacob Netschke finished sixth in the high jump at 2.04m (6'8.25").

At Morgan State, Lorenzo Neil and Matt Kingeter led the runners with a second and fourth place finish in the 5,000m. Neil took second in 15:33.08 and Kingeter took fourth in 15:37.29. Kyle Kulp (tenth, 400m hurdles) and Andrew Kereszetes (eighth, 800m) finished with times of 57.09 and 1:56.13 respectively.

Chase DeWitt took home fourth in the shot put at 14.82m (48'7.5") while Russell Bowman finished eighth in the event with a toss of 13.97m (45'10").

On the women's side, Funmi Daramola led the way with a pair of top finishes for the Retrievers in the 400m and 200m races. She finished the 400m in a time of 58.33 for 21st place and 25.02 for sixth place in the 200m.

Kara Patrice and Kaya Knake also had top finishes at Princeton in the 100m (11th, 12.43) and 800m (16th, 2:15.67) respectively.

In Baltimore, Tori Johnson had the best finish of any Retriever, taking sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.73. Bridgett Redding and Elise Allen finished 15th and 17th in the 800m run with times of 2:23.07 and 2:23.83. Cindy Alms rounded out the field with an eighth place finish in the 1,500m in a time of 4:50.09.

The Retrievers will have their final tune up at the iconic Penn Relays next Thursday through Saturday in Philadelphia.
