Rentzsch Finishes Sixth; Earns Spot in Finals of Javelin in Oregon

Jacksonville, Fla.—UMBC track and field senior Vincent Rentzsch continued his storied career, earning a spot in the NCAA Championships with a sixth place finish in the javelin on Friday. He earns a spot in the finals for the third time in his four year career with the Retrievers.

The German native finished in sixth place with his best throw of 70.07m (229'10"), just shy of the school record he set last year. John Ampomah of Middle Tennessee State took first with a throw of 73.94m (242'7").

Rentzsch will throw at the NCAA Championships at the historic Hayward Field at the University of Oregon on June 8-11.
