Rentzsch Leads Field at Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday

Princeton, N.J.—The Retriever senior was the top collegiate finisher, placing second overall in the javelin on day one of the Larry Ellis Invitational. Rentzsch was one of several Retrievers to compete on Friday.

Rentzsch placed second with a toss of 65.94m (216'4"), just behind Matthew Tholis who won the event with a throw of 67.36m. Also competeing in field events was Nneoma Edokobi, who threw a personal best in the hammer throw. Edokobi went 48.82m (160'2") to take 14th place. Abigale Slonski competed in the javelin, taking 15th place with a toss of 38.71m (127').

On the men's side of the track, Rhys Burgett hit an IC4A qualifying time in the 3,000m steeplechase, taking 25th with a time of 9:18.38. Hassan Omar also earned a top 20 finish, taking 11th in the 5,000m run with a time of 14:34.32.

The trio of Sophia Cologer, Chelsea Vane, and Katie Govatos who all turned in top time in the 3,000m steeplechase led the women on the track. Cologer led the triumvirate with a time of 10:48.07, good for 16th place. Vane turned in the second best time in school history at 11:25.26 in 30th place, while Govatos was right behind her in a time of 11:25.50, third best in program history.

The Larry Ellis Invitational and Morgan State Legacy Meet will conclude on Saturday, April 23 starting at 10 a.m.
