UMBC Track and Field Completes Day One of the ECAC/IC4A Championships

Boston, Mass.—The UMBC track and field teams competed on day one of the 2016 ECAC/IC4A Championships at Boston University on Saturday. Several Retrievers earned semi-final and finals times. 

The men saw freshmen Jamal Cody earn a spot in the 60m hurdle semi-finals, taking 17th place in the prelims with a time of 8.29. He followed that up with a semi-final finish of 15th place with a time of 8.28.

Erick Soetje earned a spot in the finals of the 500m run, taking ninth in a time of 1:03.50.

The women were led by Essence Fredericks, who placed sixth in the 500m run prelims with a time of 1:14.54.

Nneoma Edokobi took 13th in the weighted throw, with a toss of 16.52m (54'2.5").

The Retrievers are back at it on Sunday, with the conclusion of the ECAC/IC4A Championships.
