Women's Lacrosse Completes Home Stand vs. Temple this Saturday

BALTIMORE- The UMBC women's lacrosse team plays the final of a four game home stand when hosting Temple University this Saturday, March 5, at noon. Watch all of the action live at www.umbcretrievers.tv.

Scouting the Retrievers (3-1)

  • UMBC heads into the match-up on a three-game win streak after dropping their season opener to local rival Towson University. Since losing to the Tigers on the road, the Retrievers have gone undefeated at UMBC Stadium.
  • In their three victories, UMBC has outscored their opponents a collective 51-15. The Retrievers currently sit inside the top 20 nationally in goals for (13.8 per game) and goals against (7.3 per game).
  • Junior goalkeeper Ashley Peacock has started all four games this season, and is averaging just 7.71 goals against. The first-year transfer out of Louisville boasts a 55.0 save percentage, which ranks 11th best in the country.
  • Attackers Sam Nolan (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Carolyn Jamison (Westminster, Md./Westminster) lead the offense with 17 points each. Nolan, a junior, has had success scoring (11 goals) and finding the open player (six assists).
  • Jamison has scored a team-high 13 goals. The sophomore has stepped up her production since last season, when she averaged just 1.29 goals per game through the 17-game season. So far in 2016, she is averaging 3.25 goals per game and is only nine goals shy of meeting her 2015 goal total (22).

Scouting the Owls (4-1)

  • Temple won their fourth straight with a 12-7 victory over Wagner earlier this week. The Owls outshot the Seahawks, 23-10, and took a 15-6 draw control advantage. Senior attacker Megan Pinkerton led the Owls with four goals and two assists.
  • The Owls are currently scoring on just over one-third of their free-position attempts, and shooting 45.4 percent overall.
  • Temple boasts an experienced lineup with 13 seniors and 26 returning letterwinners on the roster.
  • Senior attacker Rachel Schwaab has been the producer for the Owls this season with 10 goals, and nine assists. Senior middies Kristie Connor and Megan Tiernan are not far behind with nine goals each.
  • Senior goalkeeper Jaqi Kakalecik has been in net for every minute of Temple's season so far. She's averaging just 5.4 goals against, with a .500 save percentage.

Inside the Series

  • The Retrievers lost to the Owls at Geasy Field, 10-9, in overtime in their 2015 season opener.
  • Temple leads the all-time series, 3-1, with the Retrievers' sole victory over the Owls coming in 2014.
