BALTIMORE – The women's lacrosse team heads back to the city of brotherly love this Saturday for their second straight game versus a Philadelphia-based university. The Retrievers will face the La Salle University Explorers at 1 p.m.
Scouting the Retrievers (4-2)
- UMBC defeated Drexel University, 9-7, this past Wednesday thanks in part to a defensive effort that kept the Dragons off the score sheet in the second half.
- Junior goalkeeper Ashley Peacock (Crofton, Md./Elizabeth Seton/Louisville) made six saves against the Dragons and is averaging 9.64 goals against, with a 47.0 save percentage. Peacock sits third in the America East in both categories.
- Sophomore attacker Carolyn Jamison (Westminster, Md./Westminster) has been on a tear offensively, and currently leads the America East in goals per game. She has scored multiple goals in every game this season, including three or more in the last five contests. Jamison is leading the team in goals (20), points (26) and groundballs (12).
- The Retrievers go as the draw goes, and UMBC has won every game in which they control more draws then their opponent. Sophomore midfielder Catlin Miller (Fredrick, Md./Fredrick) has won 25 draws so far this season, including a season-high seven against VCU.
Scouting the Explorers (0-3)
- La Salle lost their third straight in heartbreaking fashion against Robert Morris this past Tuesday. After the Explorers came back from a four-goal deficit early in the first half and traded goals throughout the second half, Robert Morris used a man-up goal to tie the game before netting the game-winning goal with just one second left on the clock.
- The Explorers' defense and sophomore goalkeeper Lucy Loughlin have struggled so far this season, giving up an average of 12.33 goals per game. The Forest Hill, Md., native has a .351 save percentage through La Salle's first three games of the season.
- Senior attacker Katelyn Fay leads the Explorers' offense with seven goals. Fay is perfect from the fan, going two-for-two in her free-position attempts.
