UMBC Women's Lacrosse Travels to New Hampshire for America East Action

BALTIMORE – UMBC women's lacrosse returns to America East action on Saturday, April 4 when the Retrievers travel to New Hampshire for a matchup against the Wildcats. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Cowell Stadium, with all the live action available on the America East digital network, free of charge.

SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS (6-5, 1-1 AE):

-UMBC has dropped two in a row coming into the weekend. The Retrievers were edge by Vermont, 13-12, last week and fell to No. 20 Johns Hopkins, 12-6, on Wednesday, despite jumping out to a three-goal lead in the opening half. Red-shirt sophomore Sam Nolan paced the Retrievers with her third hat trick of the season, while freshman Caitlin Miller recorded one goal and added five draw controls to move into fourth on UMBC's single-season draws list (58).

-UMBC's offense is averaging 9.45 goals per game on the season and has four players with double-digit goals for the year. Senior Abby Wilson leads the charge with 20 goals and 29 points on the season. The veteran has at least 20 goals in each of her four seasons on campus. Nolan has chipped in 16 goals and seven assists for the Retrievers, while sophomore Jennie Milligan has added 14 scores and five helpers.

-Freshman Marissa Davey has come on strong of late, registering all 14 of her points over the last six games. Miller has chipped in four points to go along with her 58 draw controls, which ranks eighth in the country.

-Rookie goalkeeper Kelsey Major has started nine of 11 games on the season and has registered 58 saves on the season.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS (4-7, 1-2 AE):

-New Hampshire snapped a four-game skid on Wednesday with a 22-6 victory against America East foe UMass Lowell. Senior Laura Puccia scored a career-best seven goals in the win.

-Puccia and classmate Kayleigh Hinkle have each contributed 20 goals on the season. Hinkle has chipped in 11 assists and a team-best 30 draw controls. Junior Laura McHoul is pacing the scoring with 19 assists and 16 goals.

-In net, freshman Kate Clancy has started all 11 contests in net for the Wildcats and has tallied 76 stops.

INSIDE THE SERIES:

-New Hampshire holds a 12-1 lead in the all-time series against the Retrievers. Three of the last four matchups have been decided by two goals or less, with UMBC last coming out on top, 10-8, on March 26, 2011.

UP NEXT FOR THE RETRIEVERS: UMBC returns home for its first of three straight home games, beginning with the rescheduled matchup against local-rival Towson on Tuesday, April 7. Game time is set for noon at UMBC Stadium.
