PRINCETON, N.J. – UMBC
freshman Hassan
Omar (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) ran a personal-best
time and earned a top-ten finish in the 10,000m run at the IC4A
Championships, Friday evening at Weaver Stadium.
Already holding the second-fastest time in UMBC history
(30:54.82), Omar bettered his mark with a time of 30:39.70 to place
seventh in the race. The freshman won the event last weekend
at the America East Championships in Vestal, N.Y.
Ricardo Galindo from Army won the 10,000m run on Friday
with a time of 30:11.56.
In the ECAC women's distance race, freshman Nicole
Dawson (Jessup, Md./Hammond) finished in 24th, crossing
the finish line in a time of 38:11.40. She took
ninth-place last week at the conference meet.
Senior thrower Amanda
Deller (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) opened her weekend in the
discus competition. Deller placed 31st in the event with a
throw of 38.00m (124'8) in her final toss.
The meet continues on Saturday with the IC4A decathlon and ECAC
heptathlon kicking things off at 9:00. The men's hammer
throw starts the individual events at 10:00 a.m.
